OpenAI Academy, in partnership with the Walton Family Foundation, will host a flagship AI Skills Jam for K–12 Educators this summer. The initiative aims to bring together more than 1,600 teachers and administrators for hands-on workshops across U.S. cities to build practical AI skills.
- Sessions will be led by OpenAI mentors and focus on incorporating AI into lesson planning, communications, and administrative tasks.
- Participants will gain access to OpenAI Academy, a free online platform providing resources and best practice guidance.
- The program is supported by research indicating that teachers using AI tools weekly save an average of 5.9 hours per week.
- Events are scheduled in Jonesboro, GA; Fairfax, VA; Orlando, FL; Chicago, IL; San Bernardino, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Salt Lake City, UT; and Las Vegas, NV.
The goal is to help educators move from curiosity to practical use of AI, advancing literacy and responsible adoption in education while expanding relationships with school system leaders.
