Google DeepMind has launched a live pilot of ATL Saathi, a Gemini-powered web application designed to support educators in India's Atal Tinkering Labs (ATL). The tool aims to transform these labs into AI-augmented discovery environments by providing 24/7 planning and training assistance grounded in national curriculum standards.

Key features include streamlined onboarding via NotebookLM for content curation, advanced project generation supporting both teacher-initiated ideas and student-driven problem statements, and multilingual accessibility starting with eight languages. The application leverages the Gemini 3.5 Flash model to generate grade-appropriate project suggestions, assembly instructions, wiring diagrams, and interactive quizzes.

The pilot is initially rolling out to 100 schools across India. Google hopes that by reducing administrative overhead through AI assistance, teachers will experience higher efficiency and increased readiness to mentor students in innovation.
