Google has released Gemini 3.8, featuring two new variants: Gemini 3.8 Flash for general reasoning and coding tasks, and Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber specialized for cybersecurity applications. Both models maintain the speed and low cost of the previous 3.7 Flash generation while delivering significant performance improvements.
Gemini 3.8 Flash outperforms larger frontier models in long-horizon software engineering on DeepSWE v1.1 and achieves 54.9% on HLE-Verified for multi-step reasoning. It is available at $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens.
Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber demonstrates frontier-level performance in vulnerability detection, exceeding a 70% success rate on an internal benchmark across 20 programming languages. On the CWE-Bench patching benchmark, it achieves a pass@1 of 47.2% at a significantly lower cost than leading models.
Google reports that 3.8 Flash Cyber produced 2.6 times more correct patches for Chrome vulnerabilities than best commercial models and helped find a critical foundational vulnerability in under two hours.
