OpenAI has launched a new Data agent within ChatGPT Work, enabling users to analyze company data, generate answers, and build interactive dashboards using natural language without writing queries.
The agent connects to approved data sources including Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, MongoDB, ClickHouse, and Datadog, as well as files from Google Drive and SharePoint. It leverages semantic layers and trusted sources like dbt, GitHub, and Snowflake Horizon to interpret business terms and metrics while enforcing existing enterprise permissions.
Users can investigate results through follow-up questions, create shareable dashboards, and integrate with tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Sigma. The agent also recommends next steps and can execute approved actions via Slack or email.
