Google has released two new models, Gemini 3.8 Live and 3.8 Live Extended Thinking, designed to enhance near real-time reasoning for voice agents and improve the fluidity of AI conversations.

Gemini 3.8 Live Extended Thinking ranks #1 on Artificial Analysis' Speech to Speech Quality Index with a score of 82.6, leading in agentic task completion benchmarks and achieving 97.7% on Big Bench Audio. Gemini 3.8 Live secures second place in the Speech Agent Arena and supports automatic transitions between 97 languages while processing visual inputs in near real-time.

The models are available via the Gemini API and Google AI Studio for developers, with enterprise access in private preview through Gemini Enterprise. General users can access the features in Search Live, Gemini Live, and various Google Workspace applications.
