Meta launches free Muse for Mac to act across local files and apps

Meta has released Muse for Mac, the first version of its personal AI agent capable of completing tasks directly on a user's computer. This macOS application extends the agent launched earlier in September for iOS, Android, web, and WhatsApp by adding a desktop layer that interacts with native apps.

• The agent operates across Files, Mail, Messages, Calendar, and Notes within their native applications to gather context and execute actions.
• It runs asynchronously in the background and maintains task threads across devices, including phones and WhatsApp.
• Access is opt-in with optional Full Disk Access, and sensitive actions like deleting files or sending messages require user approval.
• The service is powered by Muse Spark and hosted on a dedicated cloud environment called Muse Secure VM.
• It is free for US users, offering up to 100M tokens per week.

The release allows users to automate everyday tasks that span multiple applications without manually copying data between prompts.
