Google has released Nano Banana 2 Lite, also known as Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite Image, describing it as the fastest and cheapest Gemini image model engineered for velocity and scale.

The model is accessible via the Gemini API under the identifier gemini-3.1-flash-lite-image.

Testing with AI Studio demonstrates its capability to generate complex scenes, such as a "Where's Waldo" style illustration of a woodland festival featuring anthropomorphic animals.
