Independent researcher Samuel A. has released AcroMELD, a 39.4M parameter model designed to recover interactive form fields within flat PDFs that appear to be forms but are not actually fillable.
The system combines a compact visual transformer with label-free PDF drawing structure as a second modality. It was evaluated against a sealed external holdout under a pre-registered, hash-bound protocol, with results openly reporting both successes and failure modes, including complete transfer failure on the signature class. The trained weights are available on Hugging Face, and the inference package is published on PyPI.
